Default Ipaq 214 - Where's the SOUND

I am really disappointed in my new Ipaq 214, the sound is so quiet that I can't see anyway you can use this for SatNav programs you just wouldn't hear it. This seems to be a known issue on the HP Ipaq forum & I can't see why they haven't fixed the problem. I only bought the Ipaq as a replacement for my Dell Axim x50v (I would have bought another one if they hadn't stopped selling them) In contrast I turn the sound down on the Dell to about 70% & it's still fine for TomTom.
I have tried all the tips & put a sound volume program to make sure it is a 100% but even then the sound at best is a whimper.

If you have the sound in the both the pda settings and in tomtom settings both up to full and its quiet then there may be a problem with your PDA.

You can give HP a call on 08708422339 to get it checked.

I spent about an hour on the tech support online chat & apart from asking me to do a soft & hard reset couldn't help. Reading on the HP forums this sound problem is a known issue on the 214 'Sound on iPAQ 214 Almost Inaudible' Business support forums - Sound on iPAQ 214 Almost Inaudible I wish I had found this information before getting this Ipaq.
Also the specification on www.totalpda.co.uk are wrong there is only ONE speaker not TWO as stated (this was information from HP Tech. support), I would have assumed the sound would have been sufficient if it had two speakers as claimed but only having the one at the back means to get the best out of the sound you have to have the unit face down as the speaker is at the back.

Its the first time I've seen this will need to check with HP.

The information HP have given us states that there are 2 speakers on the unit. We will check with them and update our website if necessary.

HP iPAQ 214 Enterprise Handheld specifications - HP Small & Medium Business products
ultimedia Internal audio
Integrated microphone, receiver, 2 speakers and one 3.5 mm 4 pin stereo headphone jack
