Default XDAII v iMate

Hi

I currently have a ipaq 1940 and TT nav 3 and a Sony Ericsson P900. I am thinking of combining all of them and getting XDAII or iMate.

Phone shops say if i get XDAII (sim free) then my orange sim card will not work properly, is this true? and would it work better on iMAte.

Can anyone give me the pros and cons of both and any recommendations would be a great help.

Thanks in advance....

Stevex

I had the same setup as you, i had a P800 and a Ipaq H3630 and i wanted to combine the 2 units. I was looking into getting the XDA2 and putting an Orange SIM into it, but i was dubious about all the O2 settings and compatiablity, from what i have read, if the XDA2 is unlocked it is possible with some tweaking!

However this is not what i did, i brought the Orange SPV M1000, which they are now selling to all there customers, as opposed to just buisness customers, (although it still only appears in the buisness section of the orange website), its the same unit as the XDA2 and iMate only Orange branded! I haven't looked back..... I couldn't reccommend the phone more. Got a wireless card for it, and just waiting on TomTom kit to arrive, then its everything i wanted!

Hi Ian

Thanks for a quick reply. I didn't know Orange did anything like this....Mind you neither did the manager of thier local shop....

So Bluetooth and wireless and everything work on it? and its a phone too...

Does it have all the feature of the ipaqs and use Activesync.

Thanks

Stevex.

Hi Ian

I have just ordered an SPV M1000, should be here tomorrow. Have you found a car kit for it yet. I presume my ipaq 1940 wont be suitable. I already have TTnav3 and the kit i have allows them all to be linked and charged together.

Cheers

Stevex

Carcomm do a good moulded mount for the XDAII @ http://www.totalpda.co.uk/Carcomm-Po...Qtek-2020.aspx and you can get an adapter cable to allow you to connect your TomTom receiver to it @ http://www.totalpda.co.uk/Carcomm-Eu...le-TomTom.aspx .

Hi Charlie

You are so helpful.

Do you know if that car mount will fit the SPV M1000 or someone i can contact to find out?
I have one for my 1940, but i dont think that will work.

Thanks Again

It'll work...the XDAII/I-Mate/Orange SPV are all the same machine...just branded differently.
