Default PDA2k connected to NEW Roadangel using Holux cable

Hi there,
yesterday i received a cable which connects my NEW roadangel to my PDA2k. Its the Holux one, reference 5267. the cable powers both devices from the cig lighter perfectly well.
Now, i used to use the same roadangel with a HP5550 and a cable which is identical to this one apart from the end. But, i got a new PDA and had to get another cable. The problem is that in both Navman (Smart ST V2) and Destinator 6, the GPS signal can't be seen.
I have checked that the roadangel "map output" is set to "on" and have used 4800 baud (on both devices), which used to work ok on the 5550. I have also changed the roadangel AND the PDA2k to 9600 and even (clutching at straws!) 19200.
Same thing on all. ALL com ports report no GPS. the destinator can even do a scan of all com ports and still doesnt come up with anything.
I think that the cable must be duff, but having been proved wrong about things so many times, i have come here to ask if anybody has any little secrets about this one.
I suspect a setting in the PDA2k has outsmarted me. . . .

Try uninstalling Navman as it wont work on an imate iirc. It could be locking the GPS port though wich is why destinator cant find it either.
