Memory card types Secure Digital (SD)
SD stands for Secure Digital
It's a high-capacity, high-speed storage medium for the digital age. Incredibly small yet durable, the SD Memory Card is about the size of a postage stamp. It can store all kinds of digital content, like video, still images, music and more! So you can transfer data easily between products with an SD Card slot.
Strong Industry Support for SD The SD Memory Card is supported by over 600 industry leading companies. Compact Flash (CF)
Compact Flash is data storage on non-volatile memory cards. It is found in:
• Cameras
• PDAs
• Some older MP3 players
• Some laptops
Compact Flash memory is becoming old technology, larger then SD memory. You can get memory card sizes from 128Mb right up to Type 2 CF (type 2 slightly thicker than the type 1 cards), An example of type 2 cards is the Microdrive, you will find that it is backward compatible if you hardware supports type 2 it will also support type 1. xD Picture Cards
The smallest of the memory cards. Fuji and Olympus developed this card and released it in 2002. You can get adapters to increase the size so it will fit into your standard slots. Memory Stick
Sony Memory stick is really only used by Sony products it is not really used with a wide range of manufacturers.
