SD Slot Help(Ipaq)

hey,
i just got my hands on an ipaq 2210 recently, however the sd slot doesnt appear to be working.
The sd card i have works fine, have checked it on the pc and in other devices.
on the pda itself in the memory settings it says
"total storage card memory storage : 3.84MB even when there is no card in the slot.
Any ideas at all, or is the slot more than likely dead?
