This is a discussion on Mitac Mio Repair within the Mitac forums, part of the Satellite Navigation (GPS) category; Yeah one week is a great turnaround for a repair....
My 168 stopped communicating with the PC unless I wiggled the cable around. Problem with the contacts on the Mio. I contacted support last Wednesday. They asked me to send it back for repair under warranty. The unit is 18 months old, did not realise it is a 2 year warranty! A reply paid packet arrived the next day, and I posted it off to them on the Friday. It arrived back this Wednesday, 5 day turnaround including the weekend! Fantastic Service
The problem I have with mine is all of a sudden the sound has stopped. Nothing from the speakers at all! I have reset even to factory state using the on/off button. All settings say sound is on full. Anyone know of a solution?
I have had TWO Mio 168's where the sound failed.
The first was "reluctantly" exchanged by the supplying dealer, but a week or so later the brand new replacement did exactly the same. This time the dealer was a total pain and expected ME to pay all costs to get the unit to and from them.
I ended up taking the legal action route and did finally get a full refund of all my costs.

I have a 168 which had a faulty power connector. I contacted Mitac direct and they wanted €100 - 150 for the repair. Looked on the Internet and found a company called ipaq repairs. They repair basically all types of PDA's. They have charged me £49.00 for the repair. Bargain I think
