a thousand questions but for a start i live in an area north of alicante that appears to have no map coverage even though the manual says there is 78% cover in spain how do i set my location as my home adress- is there anyway i can view how much detailed coverage is available on the 269 using the computer- when i enter the postcode of the place i stay at in uk it appears not to recognise it- when i enter the road and village it doesn`t either but when i am there the road appears on the screen-many more questions but i hope its me thats at fault- i have friends in the area who have different makes of these device and some of them show this area does that mean that map coverage differs with different units?

The map covereage will differ from system to system if you use different data providers. The MIO uses Teleatlas data, some other systems use Navteq. I can't comment on the coverage as I've never been to spain with one but Mitac should be able to clarify for you. See http://www.mitac.be/ for further info.

Charlie,
I have discovered a problem with mio269 which I think you are having.
When you come to select a country such as the UK or Spain when wanting to do a search mio accepts it but does not load the MAP for that contry, hence you finding no postcodes.
Try the following from the intial screen select your country from the picture of the globe
it should then display the location on the C drive of your map for that country, select OK and if after that the miso does not say it will have to reboot to pick up the map close Navigation manually. Open it up again then go and select the country from your post code search screen and all should now work, good luck John

hi- thought i would add my comments 4 weeks use- never having any device like this before i have nothing to compare it with- after several false starts and lots of phone calls to mio i am slowly getting to grips with it and its limitations - battery life with me is 1 hr max- when i first had it i had thought of travelling thoughout europe with my caravan from my home in spain and it would pick out any campsites anywhere with the specified radius of course not so it would seem i have to load it with each country as i cross the border and then specify a town to find out whats in that area which in some ways defeats the whole object of me having it - one of the problems for me is that so many addresses in europe have an address something like Ctra. Nacional 340, Km 159. 29680 Estepona - how do i cope with that? - the other thing i would really like is to be able to run the soft on a PC to get to know it better - i tend to use its directions as a guide only because it seems to make so many mistakes such as when i am at home telling me i am in the next street - lastly i would love to know if this example is the general norm of things in satnav devices or if there are ones available that are all singing and dancing - jeff jones
