Cool Mio 168 & TomTom 5 Problem

Wonder if anybody else has experienced this problem. I upgraded from TomTom 3 to TomTom 5 on my Mio 168. I notice that it frequently loses its way. This is not due to a poor Satellite signal. It will often do this with 5 bars.
Basically the display jumps all over the place, before returning to the road you are on. It usually lands further along the route you are taking and then 'tracks back' to your actual position, before carrying on as normal. This happens quite regularly and I did not experience this problem with TT3. Have emailed TomTom support. They suggested I try using only the standard GB map, and use a high speed SD card. I have done both of these but the problem still exists. A friend of mine has the same setup and has the same problem.
Be interested to see if any of you guys recognise the problem, or know of a solution.

cheers

I haven't noticed this (but i haven't used it much yet). I have noticed that it doesn't keep the satellites locked on anywhere near as well as TT3 used to.
Have you upgraded to 5.1 from the TomTom site?

Thumbs up Yakumo Delta 300/Navman PiN/Mitac Mio 168 Firmware

Ahoy there!

I have a Yakumo Delta 300 GPS (same as Mio 168/Navman PiN) which is doing exactly the same as you describe. I have seen many threads suggesting a firmware update . . but how do you tell if your firmware needs updating with three different variants of the same PDA?

Satellite lock isn't my problem, the map going mental every now and again is.

If anyone has a solution, then I would like to hear it.

v5.21 came out this month http://www.tomtom.com/support/index....age=1&FID=3361 , resolves a number of problems.

If you still have problems then...

Disable all your POI's.

Go to Start - Settings - Connections - Beam and untick Receive all incoming beams.

Go to Start - System - Memory - Running Programs and Stop all.

Default possible help

got to settings and power, make sure you select the highest setting, has the largest battery drain, also using the external aerial, even in the car may help. also ensure no other running programmes
