Default Mio P350 problems - updated version for A201

Hope someone can help me.

I have a Mio 168 with tomtom 5 at the moment, works beautiful. A few days ago i have puchased the new Mio 350, which is the new version of the A201 model without the problems.

I am trying to install my tomtom 5 on the P350, it attempts to install the data when memory card is inserted in the slot, but within seconds the program automatically closes down.

Im not sure what the issue is, could it be that the new units will only work on the new tomtom 5.2x version or should they with the original tomtom 5 version? The difference i have noticed is that the P350 or A201 use SIRF III technology, whereas Mio 168 does not.

Someone please help.

Thanks

Like yourself I plan to get a Mio P350 to replace my Mio 168.

At present TomTom are not showing the P350 on their compatibility list. However, a few companies are selling the unit bundled with TTN5, so it must work.

Download the free TTN5.21, which is actually a full program, so do a hard re-set and start again, and install it on the P350 without the SD Card in place.

Install the maps using a Card Reader, if you can.

As your 'device' has changed you will probably have to get a new activation code from TomTom.code.

SiRF III is better than the SiRF II on the 168 inasmuch it will get faster lock ons and will not be affected by tree cover or tall buildings. It even gets rid of the problems with athermic windscreens. (Which is the main reason I want to update).

Thanks for the reply BC. 2 things

1) Where can i get free download from as i cannot seem to find it on the tomtom website or anywhere else. if you can let me know. Thanks

2) My Tomtom 5 with the mio 168, was a bundle, it came with no cd for the software, the program was on the SD card, it never needed activating, as soon as i put the the card in the unit it would auto.exe and start installing, after a few mins, it was up and running.

will this be an issue?

Just to let u guys know.

I have managed to sort out the problem, and the P350 is working like magic.

Border Collie, i tried the TTN5 update you mentioned, however i did get a problem with the activation code.

Eventually i managed to find a patch, which enabled me to transfer all the data across without knowing my activation code.

if anybody gets the P350 and has a similar problem, drop me an email, as i still have the patch.

Thanks

Hi Guys.

I have had many requests for the patch for the P350, some people have been denied access by their email provider, therefore i have arranged to upload the patch for everyone.

follow these instructions, goto

http://www.uploading.com/en/?get=0J7711A7

Password = P350

the password and to enable the download is nar the top right hand corner.

Hope this helps.

Enjoy

Asif.
