mio 268 no signal

i've bought a mitac mio 268 off ebay for what i thought was a bargin!
but its turned out to be a bit of a lemon.

i dont know why but it just wont get any signal no matter how hard i try i've been to the highest point i can find with the external ariel and it still wont get anything! does anyone have any ideas or know where i can get an expert to have a look at it in south wales.
