Exclamation Navman 510 Screen Locked - Assert Failure Error Message

I bought a Navman 510 a week ago, and it was working very well until today.

I set a new destination, and at 61% of calculating the route, the screen locked with the following message:

ASSERT FAILURE:
gator\platform\wince\platform\platform.c
LINE 677 TEST: 0

None of the buttons operate, and reloadiing maps has not helped. I can take it back to the dealer in a few days, but can anyone offer a solution before then.

You might also try formatting and reloading the storage card from the map CD it sounds like theres some corruption in the data.If you continue to get problems Id suggest taking it back under warrenty

Talking

I too had on startup ASSERT FAILURE:
tor\platform\wince\platform\plat_funcs.c
LINE:1542 TEST:g_mapCache != NULL

I posted a message on Navman helpdesk about ICN510 but as im so impatience took it back and got another one from the store. The Navman advice that came back later was as follows:-
Dear Customer,

Thanks for the mail. Please ''Hard Reset'' the unit by the doing the following operation:

1. Turn on the ICN510 & remove the SD card

2. Switch off the unit from the back (OFF/ON).

3. Then switch it on from the back (ON/OFF)

4. Allow the ICN to bootup (start up).

5. Insert the SD card. It should work.

I dont know if this works as have another Navman ICN510 Now. Try the ON/OFF Switch, if not get another. The new navman has worked perfect since.

Hope this helps someone.

i appreciate waltonosex that he has described each aspect of your question in very beautiful manner.

1. Turn on the ICN510 & remove the SD card
2. Switch off the unit from the back (OFF/ON).
3. Then switch it on from the back (ON/OFF)
4. Allow the ICN to bootup (start up).
5. Insert the SD card. It should work.

i think i joined the forum due to this
