Default Ipaq 3870,Navman software,Bluetooth ?

Hello Everybody.

Can I ask a question please? I am using a Bluetooth receiver with my Ipaq 3870.I have a partnership set up. I am using Navman ST Professional software ver 1.91.
I go to Bluetooth manager connect to SPP slave. On the Bluetooth gps receiver the blue led flashes every second to indicate a connection with the Ipaq 3870 but I lose the connection every 2 or 3 minutes. I know this because the blue led on the Bluetooth gps receiver flashes only about every 3 seconds when I lose contact with the Bluetooth gps receiver.
Because of this I cannot get a gps fix as the Navman software needs about 15 minutes to get a first fix. I have switched off any power savings settings I can find in the Ipaq. This is the first time that I have used the Navman software. This happens because I believe the Ipaq closes down the connection to re use the memory or something like that.I believe that there is a registry fix for this but I really dont want to go that road if possible.

Any ideas you might have would be a great help.

Thanks.

Regards.

OK, make sure the iPAQ has the latest ROM update installed, you can get them from www.hp.co.uk in the support section for your PDA model. That should fix it.

Hello Charlie.
My Ipaq has the latest rom upgrade available ver 2.20.
I sent the GPS Bluetooth company an e-mail & received the following reply which I will try tomorrow. This information may be of interest to anyone else in a similar position.

"When you use the GPS receiver first time please insert battery and put under open sky for at least one hour to allow the unit to find the actual position. It has found the position when the red LED is flashing every second.
Then connect to your PDA. The Navman software will then find the GPS data immediately.
Best regards,
Lauren"

Hello.

I think that I have found the problem.
The ST Professional software will only work with the Navman sleeve.I have tried a demo version of Mapopolis and this seems to work ok even though I have only tried it from home with the Bluetooth gps receiver on the windowsill.
Regards.
Tony.
