Unhappy Navman software

Bought an iPaq 2210 and Navman 4410 bluetooth setb from www.totalpda.co.uk recently. The service and delivery from totaolpda was very good.

The iPaq is very very good. Totally impressed with its look, feel and facilities despite the odd microsoft freeze.

The Navman software though is proving to be a problem. Its is inaccurate and unreliable. The voice and text tell me to go one way and the map arrows tell me to go the opposite way.

It is totally out of date on the road layouts where I live even though they have existed for four years. It gets totally confused around the junction on the M6 and the new toll road. On the M4 it tells me that I am on the A420. In central Wolverhampton it regularly tells me to go in the wrong direction approaching Junction 3 of the M4 it tells me to go the wrong way. Not impressed. Wish that I had waited for the TomTom ver 3 now.

Is TomTom 3 any better?

Hi tony i have just got tom tom 3, mapping is slightly better but really bad bugs all over the place , think they released version 3 too early without testing properly it keeps crashing all the time and wiping the programe off the ipaq 2210 itself which is fantastic when your 600 miles away from your home computer and totally lost having thrown away your paper maps because youve got sat nav, but at least tom tom apears to do regular updates and fixes so now waiting pationtly, its very hard to get around tom tom you really need to learn it as opposed to other gizmos that are laid out in a common sense way so it just works with you but tom tom decided to incorporate a free puzzle game instead of a simple microsoft like system, can be infuryating just to set a destination, decided to go wired rather than bluetooth in case of connection problems the wired version comes with a stupid bright silver dash mount antenna that screems out to nicked from your car and only mounts to dash rather than to dash or face side to the windscreen and comes with an equally stupidly short lead apart from that i cant think of a better way of throwing away £650

Ah well at least the 2210 and Navman bluetooth work together well! Glad that I didn't go for TomTom.

It is just infuriating that a brand new version should be so out of date. As you say it is not good when your 300 miles from home after a 12 hour day and the machine is telling you the way home to Bristol from Leeds is via Glasgow. When the voice is telling you to turn right and the arrow shows left where do you go?

You cross reference it with road signs! You may have chucked away your paper maps but the road signs still exist.
