Default F20 Europe tour

Help would be appreciated, I have just got two cards covering Europe for my F20. First problem I put the France card in and am told that starting in Cheshire there is no available route, OK I can get round this by routing to port in UK then starting again in France.
Next problem is, as France is on one card, and the other countries are on the other card, how do I navigate from starting point in France to destination in Switzerland? It may be simple and obvious, but I cannot see what to do.

It depends on the maps you have.

Some maps will have street level detail in one country and major rds from the rest of Europe.

This means you can use the major rds when your at your start point and have the detailed area for your destination.

If your maps only have the detail of one country and nothing else you will need to plan a route to the border then switch maps.

Check the CD the maps came on as there should be an option to load a major roads of Europe map.

Thanks Martin, the maps are on SD cards not CD.
Is it possible to copy the parts of the maps I need to just one new card to cover the whole trip?

You can copy both maps to one card but the F20 would still see it as 2 separate maps. So you would still need to change maps at the border.

Thanks for the response Martin but it's strange that it would still need a change, as the F20 asks you to specify which maps you want to load when you put the card in, and will plot a route from Italy into Germany in one go..

Does the german one have the major roads of Europe as well?

Have you tried loading the French and the UK maps on to the same card?

The two cards that I have are, one which covers France only, and the other which covers the rest of Western Europe. I haven't looked at the German section as I am not going there but the Italian and Swiss sections are very comprehensive.
No I have not yet tried putting the various sections onto one card not yet, I'm waiting for a card reader/writer to be delivered then I will try that. I'll let you know the outcome.
Ralph.

OK so now I have my card reader/writer and a blank card. What is confusing me is that when I copy the contents of the France card to my PC then add to the file the contents of the rest of Europe card, as well as the map files which are unique, there are other similarly named files and therefore I either omit the new ones or overwrite the first lot. I either case the resulting new card with the combined data on does not work? if I just copy one card then it does work, so some thoughts on this would be appreciated...

I'm not sure this to be honest. Your best bet would probably speaking to Navman on 01293780500.

Where did you get the maps from? I would thought they would have came on CD or would normally the major roads as the detailed area on each card.

Navman number is changed to 01293 566100 and they say it is not possible to transfer to data from 2 cards onto one... Somehow I don't believe them, I'll bet it has been done, it's probably just a matter of knowing which files to merge...
