Changing the battery M2000 - am I being too cautious?

I've now gat a lot of stuff on my M2000 and don't want to lose it by accidently hard reseting it when I go to change the battery. When I first got it I found that sometimes taking the battery out and puting it back in would be ok and others it would force a hard reset. Then I discivered how to soft reset it properly. Now I'm scared of losing all the settings, programs and data I've got on it.

Could someone please tell me the safest way to change the battery?

Welcome to our forums.
First thing to do is backup...you can do this on the device or in Activesyncon your PC.
Next make sure it is fully charged then turn the device off using the power button. Once its off you should be able to change the battery without any problems....just don't leave the battery out for too long.

If the worst happens then you can restore the backup you made.
