Power confusion - M1000

I have recently taken over a M1000 from a colleague who never used it and I ma having problems with the power sources. I have the cradle which charges the main battery and the back up which is in the unti...plus I have a spare battery.

My problem is that the main battery runs down but the back up battery is still full, plus I have the spare charged.

How do I switch power sources as twice now te main battery (which I guess is internal) has run down and the thing has shut down, but I know the back up is still 100%

Can any person tell me where to switch over to back up as the Oraneg manual doesn't say anything that I can find and my colleague is no good because he never used it.

The backup battery is not sufficient to run the device. The battery is button type (like car remote fobs) and retains your devices memory. If this goes flat too, you'll loose all your data!

How long is the battery taking to run down, and what have you got running (IE constant GPRS, Bluetooth etc etc).
