Default Orange SPV M1000 (Himalaya) phone not working

Hello,

I purchased an M1000 a few months back (second hand), and the phone side of it worked for a few days. I put a few bits of software on there, didn't like them and took them off. When i came to use the phone it wouldn't work. Not sure if this was a result of the software i had put on there and taken off or not.

Everything else works on the M1000, even texting works !!, so it cannot be a sim card or network problem. I just cannot call out or receive calls.

I change it to "flight mode" then back again, but it just says "No Service". But i can send and receive texts.

So, my question is:
A) Is there a way i can restore the phone feature and make it work again ?
B) Failing that, how do i do a complete factory reset ?. I tried taking the battery out for a few days but that doesn't work. Only the time/date gets forgotten, all software stays on there. I tried a hard reset (poke a pin in the hole), but again that only loses the time, it doesn't put it back to factory settings. I tried using Program files - Shut down - hard reset, but again this only manages to lose the time. It doesn't put it back to factory reset.

The only thing i'm thinking is that the previous owner put WM6 on it, because when it starts up it says "By Chandra Shekhar 3.50c.40CS", and i don't think MS put names on !!! - could this be the issue ?

Anyway, how can i get this M1000 to start being a phone once more ?

Best Regards,
Andrew

Sounds like it was reported stolen and blocked by the network.

Have you tried another Orange SIM in it?

No, it's not stolen and it hasn't been reported or anything like that. I have just downgraded to WM2003 and the phone now works. Problem is i hate WM2003 and want to go back to WM6, but haven't got any disks or anything, so i don't know how to get back to WM6 !. Any ideas ?

Regards,
Andy

Try the XDA developers forum. They normally have ROMS on there.

Just tried the "himalaya 6_1_0_0" upgrade. Installed okay. But when on main desktop screen i'm getting errors, couldn't open these files : "Screenrotate.exe", "btdwake.exe" and "Phoneservice.exe".

Other than that it works !

Help please.

Regards,
Andrew

There should be a description of installation on the developers forum.

I'd post a post on there mate they will know more about it than I will.

Hi Martin,

Well i've managed to get it to work !!! hip hip !

What i hadn't done was read the text fully in the instructions:

10. Now you have to hardreset your device.
Press ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton.
Hold them pressed until the "Boot Options" menu appears on the screen.
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
When done, press DPad and wait until OS starts.

I hadn't read that part and apparently this makes all the difference between it working and not !!

Cheers for your help tho, much appreciated !

Andy
