Question T3 and ViaMichelin installation issues

Hi all,

First post so go easy as I have a problem .

A friend has just came over from Spain with a brand new T3 and the ViaMichelin software, gps receiver and cradle. He has asked me to install the software on his handheld as he has having trouble with it.

I have installed all the discs that he gave me and actually managed to get the Map program onto the Palm but every time you try to open the app it throws up a error.Cant remember exactly what the error is but I can reinstall the software if needs be.
I think it maybe that he only has map data for Spain and Portugal and looking around on the Michelin website and in the shop on here it appears that you buy it all as a bundle(all of Europe) which is what he really wants as his time is split between the UK and Spain.
Has anyone had any issues with this software at all?I did tell him to get the TomTom stuff but he didnt listen to me .

Is it even worth me bothering with this software at all and should I get him to break out his Credit card and buy the TomTom kit from here?
I checked and he has a 256MB card in this thing and obviously a Receiver and car kit so would only really need the software or is it not that easy?

Thanks

J

Welcome to our forums.
It would be that easy but ViaMchelin should work. Can you find out what the error msg is?

Ok things have changed slightly now,he turned up yesterday and was clutching a Mapsonic Europe disc.I cant believe my luck I have had major issues installing that as well to the point that I have attempted it 8 times yesterday.I eventually copied the disc onto my harddrive and managed to install the Mapsonic files from there.

I have cropped the map of Spain and converted the file to go onto the Palm and then find out it wont fit on the memory card he has as the whole map is 270mb odd and he has a 256 card.

I have actually mailed this site today to try to find out if you guys can sell him a solution that involves TomTom and his Palm as he needs it to be portable as he will transfer it from his car to his lorry.

I have to admit to being a complete noob when it comes to this equipment and I am surprised that as I understand it you have to edit the software on the pc before you can install to the Palm/PDA is this the case for all navigation software?

Oh and thankyou for the welcome by the way.

It's not the case for all navigation software...just the versions your friend seems to buy
TomTom & Navman both load directly to your PDA and are a wee bit easier to manage.
Have a look @ http://www.totalpda.co.uk/TomTom-Nav...ngsten-T3.aspx and http://www.totalpda.co.uk/TomTom-Nav...ngsten-T3.aspx they are wired and wireless versions of TomTom for the T3. Also check out http://www.totalpda.co.uk/Navman-446...-Palm-OS5.aspx which is the wireless version of Navman for the T3. There are a few others that we do but these are by far the most popular.
