Question 512Mb SD Cards with Tungsten T3

Having just received my Navman 4460 for the Palm I need a larger SD card to store the maps on. I have been told / read somewhere that the Palm OS only supports a maximum 256MB Secure Digital memory card. Is this true, or can I use a 512Mb or even a 1Gb card to put my maps/documents/music on?

Thanks
Spence.

yeah thats not true at all. you can use a 512 or 1 gig(and you can now get a 1gig card for like 50 bucks)
i think they even have 1.5 gig cards and ar eplannaing on releasing 2 gig cards in the coming months. im eventually planning on getting two 1 gig cards for my zodiac so i can have a max of like 2 gigs on my zodiac(thats like 4 or so movies )

Theres no limit on what cards your Palm can read however Navman don't recommend you use anything larger than a 256MB card with their software.

Charlie,

Why the 256Mb limit? If there's no limit to what the Palm OS can read, then why do Navman recommend only 256Mb. It seems a bit odd. I want to store maps for the UK (120Mb), France (295Mb) and Germany (283Mb) on one card if possible (these are the countries I visit for work on regular basis). I don't want to be swapping cards in and out depending on where I am going. A 1Gb card seems ideal as it will also leave me about 300Mb for MP3 files and other documents

Spence

They say it slows the program down as it has to search a larger card for the map data required.
