Default Disconnected PDA's are dead!

Why are palm so intent on killingl themselves. I don't see the purpose, and can't understand, why palm doesn't release a PDA that accepts a sim card. Yes i know they have the Treo, but the Treo isnt a very good PDA. Its very fiddly to use becuase you have to use a mix of keyboard and stylus. i dont know why they dont offer two options, some of us actually don't like the keyboards. If i want to use a keyboard instead of grafiti, i'll get a full sized one and whip it out. This finger typing stuff is rubish and fiddly.

If the Treo didn't have the keyboard, I'd buy one tomorrow! I'd rather not have a pda as a phone though, i just cant imagine my self clubbing and pulling out the treo when I'm tryign to exchange numbers with a girl on the dance floor, i'll keep my 8910i for that. The treo does look the part in other settings, such as in a board meeting or while visiting a client.

Does anyone know if palm will bring out a handheld that doesnt require you to sync with your mobile pyhone via bluetooth, and will actually accept a sim card so you can browse the web and receive e mails. After all Rim have captured a huge market share from its ability to offer e mail on the move, i know very few people who use the blackbery as a phone.

Welcome to our forums.
I think there is still a market for both types of device. I'm not a fan of PDA/phones but some people are. I think you answered your own question though because Palm see the Treo as the all-in-one although you obviously aren't a fan of it. I reckon it'll be a while before we see and new lines from Palm but to be honest I'm quite happy with my PocketPC in one pocket and my phone in another.

I too am happy with a Palm in one pocket and a phone in the other, i just wish it had gprs so i could check e mail and browse the web without having to sync it witha bluetooth phone.

i just worry that a device i love, nameley a palm, ok healthy love and not some freeky weird kind of love, is about to go into oblivion. Smart phones and the blackcraperry ooops blackerry will take ober, in my opinion.

Just a rant, but I do wish Palm would sort themselves out and get someone strategic to head up their product lines.
