Default Palm - do I need one?

What are the advantages to using a PDA? I'm quite interested in looking at one, but I use a laptop at the moment which is big, but works fine, but is a pain in the **** when travelling.
Obviously if a PDA isn't going to be any use to me I don't want to spend lots of money on one, so are there any outlets that will loan you one for a week or so to assess whether they're any use?
Currently I use my laptop everywhere I go, and link into the office server using a bluetooth link through my mobile phone. I can then remotely access emails etc and I usually have to amend a couple of excel spreadsheets and some word files and email these back to the office.
So will a PDA work for me? As you can see, I'm new to this

Welcome to our forums.
I don't know of anywhere that will loan you a PDA but you can visit places like Dixons, Currys or PCWorld where you can try them out in store. You should be able to do most of the things you do on your laptop on a PDA but at the end of the day if your happy doing it on the laptop then save the money.

If you are looking at your PDA for businees purposes , Orange will give your business up to six ( I think , from memory ) on evaluation . Look at their website for details .

Ignore the above , it wasn't Orange (although they do the Treo 650 on contract) it is Palm who will give you 5 treo 650's on trial for 30 days - follow this link ,
