Tungsten T5 and TomTom Navigator Maps not found

After having used my T5 with TomTom Navigator successfully for the last 6 months I updated the speed camera and POI data and somehow seem to have lost the maps. When TomTom Navigator is fired up I get 'no maps found' even though all the files (.dat type) are in the TomTom Great Britain folder as before.
Any ideas ?

Are you using version 3 or 5 of TomTom?
Have you tried to re-install TomTom?
