Default Streaming on PDA (internet radio)

Does anyone know if it's possible to listen to streaming media in RealPlayer format on a PDA (via wifi if that makes any difference) - ie BBC Radio 4?

If so, can you specify what hardware/software combination can be used to achieve this?

thanks

You should be able to use the inbuilt Windows media player on a windows based PDA.

Works fine on my hx2790 over Wi-Fi when I look at the BBC live news.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure exactly what link/stream you are talking about (the BBC live news one), but isn't that Windows Media, not Real Media (as Radio 4 is).

I don't think the inbuilt Windows media player will play Real Media.

No it won't, but when you visit BBC it asks you which player to use. On my works machine I only have media player, yet at home my PC is set to real player.

My PDA only has win media player, so everything is played in that format just fine. You'll find R4's will also have such an option to select a player to use.

No, I don't think so. As far as I know, Radio 4 is only streamed in Real Audio format, I think for some sort of contractual/rights reason. Probably because the news is just news, live, and wholly owned by the BBC, whereas the material on Radio 4 is created by writers, actors, performers etc who would have to be paid fees based on the repeated 'airplay'.

That's what you'll need. They do a Palm or PocketPC version

Thanks for the link. I know Real do a player, though.

I would like to know if anyone has actually had it working for Radio 4, and with what hardware/software combination. I've read a few accounts on other forums where people haven't been able to get it working.
