Tungsten T3 connection settings

Hi, first time poster, so be nice

I have a T3 paired with a Siemens S55 which I have been using to check email, browse the net and send and receive sms messages.

I have acheived all this using the "phone" setting under Preferences| Communication| Connection| Edit Connection| Connect To:

I was informed by a more experienced Palm using friend that the "phone" setting was not designed to be used for going online and that I would recieve better performance using the "modem" setting.

After changing the setting, Webpro and Versamail worked fine (though not with any noticable change in speed) but SMS didn't work. I changed the setting back to "phone" and now SMS works but the (previously working) WebPro and Versamail returned the error message (0x1102)" error message.

I didn't change any other settings....

Any ideas?
