Can anyone advise (1) Whether you can download new POI's to the T3
If you can do this I would be interested to know anyone selling POI's for the T3 with audible warnings for Speed Camera locations.

TomTom will be solving this end of this summer, see http://support-uk.tomtom.com/cgibin/...YWdlPTE*&p_li=

Where can I find POI’s to install ? And what POI’s will be available for palmOne? Answer TomTom Navigator comes with many pre-installed Points of Interests (for example petrol stations, hotels, parking lots). These POI’s are very helpful since you can search them based on your current location, ideal in a city you are not familiar with. In this version of TomTom Navigator it is not possible to load your own set of POI’s. However you can store any location as a favorite which enables fast selection.

TomTom will make the feature available to add third party POI’s for TomTom Navigator for palmOne. An update that includes this feature can be downloaded by end of summer 2004.

Have a look at the thread in speed trap detection that I started. I think you'll find the answer there.

Thanks for all the info. Tom Tom have indeed updated the software for the T3 and they say you can now add POIs such as speed camera databases. I have downloaded the safety camera database from Pocketgpsworld but can not load to my T3 as it doesnt recognise the file type.In any case I can not see how I can actually get the database into Navigator. Any ideas?

Best to use an SD card reader attached to your PC...put the .bmp & .ov2 files into the map folder on the card.

The following explains how to install POI onto a T3 if you haven't got a card reader:

We can offer 2 solutions:

1. Installing Point of Interest via a cardreader.
Download the POI file's
Download the POI zip file. Save the file on your computer by selecting “save” when prompted. Save the file in a place where you can easily find it again for example on your Desktop or in My Documents. Unzip the contents.
Copy the POI files from your PC
Go to the directory on the local hard drive of your PC where you stored or downloaded the POI database files (.OV2 and optionally .BMP files)
Select and copy the POI database files
Copy the POI files to your Cardreader
Go to on your PC;
Select the right Disk where the SD card is
Then go to the map directory, for example the folder ;Benelux-map
And "paste" the POI files into this folder.
The POI files are now successfully copied to this folder. You are ready to use your new POI's on your Palm Tungsten 3.
2. Installing Point of Interest via Pilot Install

Download the tool http://envicon.com/e/pinstall/pinstall.html

Please note: Pilot install is not a TomTom product for support please contact the manufacture.

We hope to have answered your question to your satisfaction.
With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team

Pen you say this is how to install POI if you don't have a card reader and in your description on line 9 you refer to a car reader. Sorry to sound thick, but I confussed.

ok ok ok already

It was number 2 that you need to choose if you haven't got a card reader - namely:

2. Installing Point of Interest via Pilot Install
Download the tool http://envicon.com/e/pinstall/pinstall.html

I haven't looked at it but apparently that's the proggie you use (according to TomTom anyway) if you haven't got a CR

When I click that link I get an error "Access to the port number given has been disabled for security reasons". Anyone else get this?
