Default FAQ PIN 570 (INC Speed Camera)

Q1 – What is the PIN570

A1 – The Navman PIN570 is the latest PocketPC Navigation system from Navman with the latest 2005 version of their popular SmartST application.

Q2 – How do I install SmartST 2005?

A2 – First uninstall any previous versions of SmarST you may have on your PC.

Insert the Application CD into your CD drive and it will autoplay and prompt you. If it does not autoplay then open windows explorer and browse to your CDROM drive and double click the Setup SmartST 2005 for Pocket PC.exe file.

Q3 – How do i connect the PIN570 to my computer?

A3 – First insert the PIN Companion CD into your CD drive and it will autoplay. If it does not autoplay then open windows explorer and browse to your CDROM drive and double click the setup.exe file.

Click on START HERE then click on INSTALL ACTIVESYNC on the left menu then click on the INSTALL button and follow the prompts.

Once Activesync has been successfully installed you will be promted to connect your device (PIN570). Do this by using the included USB sync cable to connect the device to and available USB port on your PC. Once connected and detected you will be asked to select a Standard or Guest partnership. Read the desciption of both options and select which applies to you.

Q4 – How can I install speed camera files on my PIN570?

A4z – Download the safety camera database from http://www.pocketgpsworld.co.uk/uksafetycameras.php .

Extract the ZIP file contents to a directory on your PC, e.g. C:\speedcams

Start NOTEPAD on your PC and click on FILE ΰ OPEN and change the FILE TYPE to ALL then browse to the C:\speedcams\single file version\csv file\other folder and doubleclick the pocketgps_uk_sc.csv . Delete the Longitude,Latitude,Name line from the file then ckicl FILE ΰ SAVE.

Run the SmartST application on your PC and click on MAP on the toolbar then POIs. Click FILE ΰ OPEN TEXT FILE and browse to the C:\speedcams\single file version\csv file\other folder and doubleclick the pocketgps_uk_sc file. Click FILE ΰ SAVE TO DEVICE and you will get the PIO OPTIONS box open up. Check ACTIVE and VISUAL ALERT (audio alert is already checked) then change the units to IMPERIAL and change the distance to 150. Move the visibility level to the 3rd notch then click on the button with the 3 dots then browse to the C:\speedcams\ov2 bmp files\ and doubleclick the pocketgps_uk_sc.bmp file then click OK. You can then name the file but the default name should be fine so click OK. You will then get a box that tells you how much memory is available on your device and how much is required for the speed camera file so click OK and it will be loaded. Click OK when its finished and that’s it done.

You have now installed speed camera database onto your Navman PIN

This post is out of date - you can not get the free speed camera database - you just get redirected to the subscription page. Not much £2 per month but still not free.
