Question PiN 570 and Outlook 2002 Contacts

Hi all
wonder if anyone can help me
i have a 570 from work and i am trying to get the contacts to work with the sat nav.
the problems i am having are :
1) the address is apparantly incomplete even though it isn't
2) it only pulls up the first 4 characters of the post code, not 5
3) if i amend any details via the sat nav side and save them to the contacts, it still gives me the "incomplete" error message next time

i think it is something to do with the space in the middle of the postcode, but i am not sure.

i have tried to get round this by putting all of the postcode as one long stream, but it doesn't like that either !

i have also tried the %20 as in the url "space" but that didn't work either.

please help, this is driving me nuts !

other than that, it is a good little pda.

thanks

Chris

I have got exactly the same problem. I have spent all day trying every which way to load a contact address that smartst likes. no luck
I have emailed navman uk tech support and if I get a fix I will post it here.
if any one has an obvious answer please help as it is driving me nuts also

Update

I have not had a response from Navman uk teck support yet but I have found
a fix / fudge to the problem.

I think that the problem lies in the way SmartST reads the address fields from outlook contacts.
My fudge / fix is to dispense with the post code altogether and put the house number, street name, town, in the street field.
the City and County goes in the City field.
leave the zip postal code field blank (it can go in notes if you need to refer to it)
Make sure you have United Kingdom in country region field and your address should be OK for use with SmartST.
I would do all the editing and checking on the desktop and sync them over as trying to edit using pocket outlook is a pain.
There is probably a simple way of using the post code info but I havent found it yet.
Summary is the only way I can get the contacts to work with SmartSt is to loose the post code unless anyone can enlighten me?

Hi, just joined as I am having same problems with outlook 2003 contacts.

I have had the pin 570 since Sept, just to let everybody know you are wasting your time sending e-mails to Navman they do not reply, I have sent 4 e-mails without any replys, I have also read on other sites the same thing reported.

I have phoned Navman support they said there is a update going on to the web site as they are aware of the problem. This was to be posted in mid November, I suppose I should have asked which year as it is now Jan and still no fix.

I will try the work round above, thanks.

Try this.
Firstly make sure contacts option is ticked in active sync options on your PC desktop.
On your PC open outlook and go to contacts.
Click new. click full name button and in the pop up window that appears in the field labeled "first" type tony and click OK
now click address button and in the pop up window that appears in the field labeled "street" type 10, downing street, westminster
now click in the field labeled "city" and type london, england
finally in the country region drop down menu select united kingdom
click ok then save and close.
connect your navman to your pc and let active sync copy your new contact from your pc to your PDA.
you should be able to use that saved contact to navigate to No 10. dont even think about adding a post code though!
by fiddling about this way you can get most addresses to work but if you have hundreds to do I would wait for navman to issue the fix. or take the thing back and try for a refund. good luck

I have discovered, by chance, that if you put the contact address into "other address" rather than "home address" the mapping will find the address.

Thank you for your help but things took a real turn for the worse!
My Pin 570 gave up the ghost, i was instructed to return it to the supplier, there system said exchange or refund (could not call one from the manafacturer) none in stock no more being produced, you will probally find no patch to come either now.
I have now exchanged mine for an Acer n35 (tell me there different?) and got a refund of #80.00, but thank you for trying to help.
ps the acer address works fine
