Default Navman PIN 570

Hi there, I hope one of you may be able to help me. I've got a Navman Pin 570 which I want to use on my motorbike.

The issue I have is how to conect the GPS to the battery supply. I have a battery connection on the moptorbike which is to connect a trikle feed when the bike is not rolling. I when like to use this but I'm not sure of the best way to do this.

May thanks for looking, sorry if this is not as techy as most question but some help when be great.

Stu.

Hi.

You will have a permanent live feed from your battery to your ignition switch. You can take a feed from this and put in an inline fuse (30amp). Purchase an additional cigarette lighter socket from an automotive suppliers, wire the positive on the socket to your fused feed from the ignition switch and the negative on to the chassis of the bike, then use the normal in-car charge lead supplied with you navman

Good luck

Ade.

30amp is far too high! It should be 5A, otherwise your GPS will fry if a power surge occurs!

The route I'm going to try is to get a handle bar mount for the bike which I hope to attach a universal PDA holder to. Then connect it to the cigerette light which I hope to connect to the trickle feed battery connection from my accumator (Optimate) system. Then take a standard phone plug for the head set.

I'm hoping this is Bob's your uncle, finger crossed.

I was considered the Otter Amour 2600 and fixing this to the bike. This is then waterproof and gives the Pda a lttle extra protection.

Many thanks to you both for your wise words / advice. Much appreciated.
