Default Can Navman Pin570 be connected to Broadband Router's USB port?

Has anyone successfully connected a Navman Pin570 to a Broadband Router if it has a USB port (designed to supply a ethernet/internet connection) via the supplied USB cable so as to connect to the Internet?

I know about Wifi SD cards but want to got the hard wire route to utilise my Router & direct USB connection (possible for greater speed / security)

Any thoughts gratefully received...

Security wise you are gaining nothing. You are as secure when using encrypted Wi-Fi as a cabled solution.

If your modem is USB, then it is likely that you need software to do the dialing bit. The dialing settings are stored in the software on your PC, and not in the modem. Many wont work without this at all, and it's unlikely there will be a PDA version.

No, the Broadband Router has 4 ethernet connection ports plus an extra USB port that is designed to hook up to a gaming machine to give it Internet access.

Plugged the Navman in to that extra USB port hoping to get that there T'internet conection (via a LAN network) but no immediate joy. May have to read my manual more to get this working with correct settings (most PC & Mac's auto configure when connecting to a ethernet connection) as hoped it would auto set-up.

Anyone else done this and had it work?

(The only security I was alluding to was the fact of broadcasting via a wireless broadband router which you don't have to worry about with a 'hard' cabled connection)
