Unhappy No Service/Low Signal On HTC Touch Dual/Nike (Unlocked)

Hi, I have unlocked my Orange HTC Touch Dual (Nike) and have put in a new 3G O2 SIM card. But it says No Service and has little to no signal at all when it does actually find service... The card has been activated so it's not that, and I can get signal on the O2 SIM when I put it in a different phone in the same location... The phone apparently is definitely unlocked because the guys over at xda-developers.com said so, otherwise I wouldn't get any service at all. It's not the area I'm in, and before I got it (from my friend) he was able to use it on about four bars of signal wherever he went.

Please help! What could be wrong?

Trying putting your firends sim card back in to see if it works. If it does then the problem is either your network or your sim card. If he is on the same network as you and his works then the problem is your sim card. If he is on a different network then its probably locked to that network.

I have unlocked the phone so I can use any networks. It was originally an Orange-locked phone but now I unlocked it and it works with my O2 Sim. I also have a spare Orange Sim but when I put that in I do seem to get the same problem.

Someone has told me it might be a problem with part of the motherboard?

Likely the Sim contacts.

Give them a good clean, and make sure they extend enough to make full contact with the SIM's chip.

I've tried that. I don't think it can be anything to do with the SIM, I think it's to do with the internal antenna because I can get 2 bars of signal in certain areas in my house, and if I move about 1m away, with the Sim contacts still in the same place etc... it doesn't work.

Well, seems I've stumped. I am selling this phone for £120 ONO with TomTom 6 on the 1GB MicroSD card. I put the teal Manilla2D UI on it.

Anyone interested in it, to fix or for spare parts can find it here: http://manchester.gumtree.com/manche.../28860039.html
