It was actually the PDA keyboard that was hogging the serial port. All now working and very impressed with the sensitivity of the unit - and the TomTom S/W is great.

Ordered all of mine today... although out os stock it would appear!!

Ian, many are in stock on ebay.
I am so impressed with the quality of the GPS and the tomtom.
