Exclamation Symbol 8800 Bar code scanner

Hello All,

I have a Symbol 8800 on a cradle station, the cradle has a Ethernet to Serial connector.

I then have a serial connector to USB cable which means I can plug it into my laptop which lacks a Serial port.

A week or so ago, I could sync the PDA (Via Active Sync) but it would only sync once, then Active Sync would fail to recognise the Symbol scanner.

So I tried to reinstall Active Sync to no avail, and I even downgraded. (Currently running the latest version). However now I cannot even get the Scanner to connect at all. (It is running Pocket PC).

Active Sync does work fine for other PDA's I have. I have tried different wires but no luck. I also have done hard resets of the PDA.

Thanks in advance.

Then on my laptop (Without a serial port) I noticed the driver for the serial converter is on Com Port 7 - but active sync in the options is only looking on port 5. And the drop down doesn't list any other ports to choose from...

Ok, Active Sync detects on first reboot of my Laptop but then will no longer see the PDA, if I go through the motions of 'searching' for a device then the PDA acts like it knows the Computer is there because I get the prompt on the screen whcih says "connecting" but then it doesn't actually connect.
