Default GPS on IPAQ Nav2 sleeve.. help?

Well.... success on most fronts after couple fo hours BUT main problem I'm having (5550 + hp gps nav system 2 sleeve) is getting the gps status to work / show even when using Memory Map software.....

The Nav system2 sleeve software came pre-installed on compact flash disk .... If this is either in or out of the sleeve I cannot get gps to work independently of the route mapping software...

I need to get Memory Map OS maps receiving gps signals... there was a separate download for the Navman sleeve for gps status check - so is there something I am missing here to get this to work with sleeve but without the hp route software??

Help?

the gps icon says sleeve not attached... also only logical choice I had in Memory Map section where you choose the gps set-up was Navman 3000 (sleeve).. ans Magellan and Garmin BUT not this one.... The HP Ipaq must be missing the driver / software otherwise it would get recognised as 'exisiting'??? OR it doesn't work as a gps other than with its own software?????!!!!
