Default compact flash

hey everyone i'm new to the forums. i'm planning on getting the ipaq hx 4705 for portable entertainment, organizing schedules, and such. it will definitely be an upgrade from my previous ppc. i was wondering what kind of impact compact flash speeds have on a ppc's performance...

The speed of CF cards can affect the performance of some programs but it depends on what brand/speed of CF card and what program you are running and if its loaded to the CF card or the internal memory.
I don't think the HX47XX has a CF slot though.

the hx47XX has not been released yet. it will have an sd slot and a compact flash (type II) slot. i'm thinking about purchasing a 2.0gb cf card from lexar or sandisk.

A 2GB card may have a more noticeable impact on performance since it's not a typical flash card but a mini HDD instead. Compare the access times quoted by the manufacturers of the cards to find out which is faster.

I tried a 1gig MicroDrive and then later installed a 512mb SD card instead and I can tell you that the microdrive are way to slow only really good for digital cameras

Yeah you will find that the PDA CPU has to work very hard to search through the data on the larger cards.

so what do you suggest? should i go with cf or sd? is there a difference in performance? should i use two 1 gb cf cards? i think lexar and sandisk sell regular compact flash type 1 cards not micro-drive based compact flash type 2 cards....would that make a difference? there are many good reviews on these types of cards.
