Default (SPV M1000) Bluetooth Activesync-ing with 2 PCs

I Activesync my SPV with both my Office and Home PCs via Bluetooth and I don't have any problems doing this.

My query, however, is of a more general issue.

In my START->SETTINGS->SYSTEM->BLUETOOTH SETTINGS-BLUETOOTH ACTIVESYNC SETUP (click Start and then OK) - BONDED DEVICES area, all the Bluetooth devices I have ever bonded with are in it including my Home and Office PCs.

In order to Sync with either PC, I firstly have to go through the setup routine exactly as I do as if bonding for the first time. Once the PC bluetooth connection is located and I click OK, the SPV realises it's already in my list of bonded items and brings up the already stored name for the device.

When I then go home, I have to go through all this again even though my Home PC is already stored.

My point is would it not have been easier to simply allow the selection of a device already in the bonded items list rather than having to search for it again even though the settings remain identical?

It may be a result of the branding applied by Orange. The unit is actually an HTC Himalaya and is branded/modified by O2, Orange & T-Mobile using their own software/firmware etc.

I was aware of that but I thought that as far as Orange branding went, this was limited to the Today screen and the inclusion of Orange Backup and Orange Update in the Programs list. Internal functionality, you would have thought, would be identical regardless of network.

Still, can't do anything about it now!

They also modify the firmware. I haven't used an Orange branded unit but the differences between the I-Mate branded and O2 branded are apparent in the Bluetooth management side of things. If you have a look @ http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html you will find some more info about BT on these units and you can also find upgraded firmware. I must stress that I do not recommend that anyone upgrade their firmware unless they know what they are doing as it could mess up your unit.

Thanks for the link. Just had a quick browse. Whilst I happily spent thousands mod'ing my brand new car for some reason I am more sceptical about mod'ing a comparatively cheap item of electronics for fear of problems arising. However, double clicking an installer and allowing Windows to sort it all out seems easy enough although I don't like the idea of things being in German (at least according to the screen shots).

I'll probably hang on to my SPV in its current format unless someone has something positive to report back on the upgrade.
