Default Vodafone V1640 PDA text tones

Hi

Could anybody help me with a query ref tones on a vodafone v1640 PDA? Ive picked up one 2nd hand without an instruction book and managed to set up everything; WAP etc but im struggling with text tones. I cant get them to work.

Ive half a dozen MP3 tones loaded onto the storage card. Ive copied and pasted several into my device/my documents/my ringtones for use as incoming call ringtones. Gone to settings/sounds notifications and in notifications/event incoming call I can see and select the ringtone I require.

But Im trying to change the text notification tone.

Ive seen two solutions on line where you have to copy the MP3 file from the storage card and where to paste it in my device. Im told text tones need to be in a different location on the device from ringtones on my device?!? Is this correct??

Ive pasted the MP3 files I want as text tones into My Device/windows; also tried various other folders . None seem to work.

Ive also checked in sounds/notifications and changed the event to new text message and can see my desired text tones showing there. Also the volume levels are cranked to max. However when a text message comes through I get a notification but no tone.

Incoming call ringtones work fine and these I can change to work properly at will.

This is beginning to bug me now. Im sure its something very simple im missing, something maybe set wrong. Anybody who can give any solution or help; it would be much appreciated.

Also anybody know is the flashing battery indicator that flashes green/yellow and red; is that a permament feature; or can it be turned off?!
Thanks
JC

I dont remember seeing any options to stop the battery light flashing on my HTCs.

You can find a manual for the 1640 here.
