I am thinking of upgrading my 3870 ipac to 2003 spec,what are anyones findings on doing this & will my downloaded extras still be there after the upgrade or do I need to backup if so How?

Upgrading will wipe everything from your iPAQ. You will have to check compatibility of your programs with PPC2003 before you re-install any of them. You can do a backup through iPAQ Backup within your PROGRAMS folder on your iPAQ. You wont be able to backup any of your programs but you can do your contact list etc.

So any programs I have downloaded & paid for I may lose completly?

Yes that is correct, you are putting a new OS on the PDA.
