Default Acer n310 serial port question

I have an Acer n310 WM5 device. It has a charger/USB cable and I have a USB Host cable.
The 26 pin connector also has a full serial port but I cannot get a cable.

1. If I can wire up a plug or add to one of the others, how do I activate the port?
There is no mention of a COM in the System Info and nothing on the system gives away the fact that the connections are there.

2. Does anybody know how to set up a Virtual port? I have an Arduino that connects to USB on a PC. The board has an FTDI USB/Serial system and when plugged into the USB port looks like a serial port via a Virtual.
I want to connect the Arduino to the Acer and obtained the FTDI driver for ARM and installed it but System Info says that no device is connected, yet the USB entry is there.

Any help would be appreciated but mostly the first because solving that would eliminate the second.
