Do you have an infrared or bluetooth connection to your mobile phone? so you could use the phone to dial for internet access and IR/bluetooth to connect between the phone and PDA?

You can do it through the cradle by going into Activesync on your desktop and selecting TOOLS then OPTIONS & go to the RULES tab, then check in the 'Pass Through' with the option set to 'The Internet'.

So that only works when your next to your pc - no way of getting it to go online independantly without using IR?

You could buy a CF expansion jacket which will give you a CompactFlash socket into which you can install a CF Wifi card to connect to wireless networks.

i think you are trying to get on internet well away from pc? the only way to do this i think apart from i/r is to get a expansion jacket as charlie said but also to change your phone to a bluetooth handset and get a CF bluetooth card.
this may not be the answer you are looking for i'm affraid but the is no cable option to connect your pda to your phone
