Default ActiveSync Nightmare!

I have moved home recently and my H2210 hasn't been used or charged for a good few weeks. Yesterday I finally got round to setting up my PC and decided to sync with my Pocket PC only to discover that the 2210 has completely run down it's battery and reset itself to the 'out of the box' configuration and settings.

Initally I was a bit peeved, but I soon remembered that everything of importance was backed-up on my home PC

This evening I have tried to sync with my PC. As my PC now thinks that my H2210 is a new device it is prompting me with a wizard, to create a new connection. As part of the new connection process it is prompting me for a name to call my Pocket PC. I obviously want to give it the name that it was called before (as that is also the name on the shortcut on my desktop), but the wizard will not allow me to do so saying that the 'choosen name is already recognised' or words to that effect, it will not allow me to use my second choice name (the same that my H2210 is calling itself as default) either. As such I can only create a Guest connection which will not allow me to sync any files.

Is there any way to re-create my connection between my H2210 and my home PC using the original name?

Or does anyone have any other good ideas to resolve the problem? I would rather not have to resort to changing file names, but if I must then I will.

All help appreciated. Thanks

Andy

PS. Just a thought - I cannot find my ActiveSync program disc so preferably no suggestions that I reinstall it!

UPDATE: I've updated my ActiveSync from the microsoft website tyo the latest 3.7.1 version. I've also performed a hard reset and changed the device name on my H2210 to the same a the acticeSync partnership one. However My Pocket PC and Home PC are still not sync-ing and my home PC continues to treat my H2210 as a 'guest' even though I have restored the data from the ipaq backup file.

I am now starting to get very frustrated and annoyed with it all!

Any ideas anyone??
