Default analog/digital phone line

my HP Jornada user guide says only to connect to an analog phone line. How can Itell if my phone line is analog or digital? what damage could it do, if I got it wrong?

Check with your telephone line supplier for clarification. I guess it could break it.

to demonstrate how little I know about these things (and how slow I am at following up!!), I'm now thinking about accessing email on the road, via my ancient Nokia (a 3310 or similar). is there a lead I can get, to use with the internal modem? and would my O2 network be analog or digital?
thanks in advance, Charlie. I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I read these forum pages frequently and, in my mind, you are still "The Man", where HP PDAs are concerned.

Search GOOGLE for "jornada nokia cable" and you should get a few results. I'm not sure if you'll get one for a 3310 though?

Charlie,
just to let you know, I did find some possible leads, but then checked with my mobile phone company (o2) who confirmed I'm on a digital line. As per an earlier post, the internal modem to the HP 720 says to use it only with analog lines. So that's a "no" for the moment.
Plan B (sort of). We have broadband at work and I have my HP linked to it, via ActiveSync. Can I use this connection to access the net with my HP?
Work your magic, Charlie my man!

Yes, you just need to enable Pass-Though within Activesync on your PC. You will also need to configure any proxies on your Jornada if you use them at work.
