Default Which memory for Acer N30

I have just received an Acer N30 as a Christmas present and would like to install additional memory.

The Acer N30 has an SD / MMC expansion slot with SDIO feature (?)

I am wondering which is better SD or MMC and also can a pocket PC take any size / type of memory e.g. Kingston 1GB Secure digital.

Welcome to our forums.
There is really no benefit of one card type over the other. You should not have any problems with cards of 1GB with your Acer but I would recommend reading through the manual in case the manufacturer lists compatibility.

I bought a Kingmax 1GB SD card but it was not always recognised when switching Acer N30 on. It was only recognised if I unplugged and plugged it back in.

I sent it back and the supplier confirmed it was faulty and gave me a refund so I purchased a Sandisk 1GB SD which so far seems to be working perfectly.

The Kingmax is much thinner than the Sandisk so I wonder whether this was a problem. I bought the Kingmax because it was suppposed to be the fastest SD at the time.

If the Kingmax was thinner then it may have been an MMC card. Hope your new one serves you well.

No it defintely is a SD card, Kingmax also make an MMC card. It's possibly thinner because it does not have a write protect switch:

Kingmax 1gb Secure Digital Platinum Memory Card 60x speed

The Kingmax secure digital card is a high speed (60X), high quality secure digital (SD) card
