Attach Powershot A80 camera to Acer N30

Can I attach my Canon Powershot A80 to my Acer N30.

The Acer has a USB socket and the Canon has a USB plug. When I plug the Canon in, I get the message on the Acer:

Unidentified USB Device - Enter the name of the device driver for this device. I then get a space to type in a driver name.

If it were to work you would need a device driver from Canon but they don't make them.
