Question Can web pages be viewed offline?

I'm new to the whole PDA thing, so I would like to know if it is possible to view selected web sites & pages offline after syncing with my PC which has a broadband connection?

If this is possible could someone tell me how to do it?

I seem able to save pages on my handheld. On my desktop browser there is an icon which looks like a pda and is called "Create mobile Favorite". If I click this while for example with this thread open, the page downloads to my handheld.

There is also a similar folder "Mobile favorites" under my desktop favorites menu.

A more complicated way is to browse to a page from my handheld while connected to my desktop and then add the page to favorites.

Which PDA are you using and what OS version is on it stefan?
I have an H3970 at the moment with Windows Mobile 2003 on it and can't find such an icon. I am able to create favourites but it doesnt save the page for offline viewing.

I have also seen the 'Mobile Favourites' icon in my browser, not sure whether it actually does anything, but when I try to access any of my favourites on my handheld when offline, I can't & it tries to create an internet connection.

Acer N30 with Windows® Pocket PC 2003 Premium

Try hitting cancel if the connection dialogue opens.

Not sure how I set this up, I am very much in the newbie phase only having had this pocket pc for a week or so.

I've got it working.
Think my problem was a wee bit more complex due to proxy settings etc but it should work like stefan said.
The pages added to Favourites are stored in the Temporary Internet Files Folder but I'm not sure how long for. I know you can clear them manually by tapping on TOOLS --> OPTIONS and clicking the DELETE FILES button under the Temporary Internet Files section.

Thanks stefan

About Favorites
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or greater on the PC, you can synchronize favorite links. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or greater on the PC, you can also synchronize mobile favorites. Synchronizing favorite links enables you to have the URLs of your favorite Web sites at your fingertips. Synchronizing a mobile favorite enables you to view Internet content on your device while you are disconnected from your Internet service provider and PC.

Favorites are stored in the Mobile Favorites subfolder of Favorites in Internet Explorer on the PC. This folder was created when you selected the Favorites information type for synchronization in ActiveSync on your PC. Favorites must be stored in this folder to be synchronized.
