headphones with 2.5mm jack

My Acer N30 has a 2.5mm socket for headphones. Standard headphones have 3.5mm plugs.

I bought a 3.5mm to 2.5mm converter from Maplin which works but it is very large and ugly.

Is there somewhere I can go to purchase reasonably priced stereo earphones with a 2.5mm jack. Searched the internet but most of the solutions seem expensive or to involve rewiring.

Is it just the Acer which has a socket this size or are all Pocket PC's like this? Why?
