Unhappy Any chance of a little guidance

Just hoping someone can help this newby!

I have only had the iPAQ 5550 for a couple of weeks, all was going well until this morning when it insisted on start up that I do a “Full Reset”. I have no idea why but went ahead. Then I synchronised with my PC and Active Sync asked that I re-register! As I had only been installed as Username Pocket_PC before I left the name the same and it told me that this was already registered and therefore I had to choose a new name. I went in as Pocket_PC_CM and it accepted and the sync went OK, however I am unable to restore, using the Back-up/Restore as it will not allow me to choose the back up file I created when I was Pocket_PC.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Also is the Full Reset liable to happen often? And if so does anyone know why?

Thanks in advance

hi ohj790p
by doing hard reset , the ipaq is set to factory default settings.
you can try changing device id in ipaq , then try syncing it should restore.

Hi ra_hul

I will try your suggestion as my PDA has again asked me to do a Full Reset this morning!!!!!!!

Not sure what I am doing wrong, no major work done on it yesterday and yet this morning I am back where I started.

Loosing patience rapidly,

ohj790p

Default Similar here

I've just got one of these a couple of days back (with another 128sd card on top !) and I have had a few occasions when the unit has either
1 frozen me out completely with NO buttons or screen making any difference
2 just dropped out (and killed the prog) of a program that I was using
3:Removing all option boxes from ANY page (I get the option text , but no box next to it)

I don't know whether it's the card , the software or the main unit. I'm going to have to remove the card for a few days to see if I can isolate it.

Usually a soft reset (pressing the hidden reset button) cures the problem , but I don't know whether this frequent resetting is normal

Hi Pocket Rocket,

Thanks for taking and interest, I've not had the problems you’re having as yet but I did have a little success yesterday when I contacted the HP Instant Chat Support (http://instantsupport.europe.hp.com) which was quite good. It stated a return in 2mins which took 4 but still I got some answers.

Mind you they eventually said that as my unit was requesting a Full Reset and I had no unusual software on it, there may be a problem with the unit! Joy

I got this because I thought it would help the work load not increase it!

Hope you resolve your problem
