XDA IIs sync problems - attachments

Have just purchased an XDA IIs (runs windows mobile 2003 2nd edition) and am running activesync 3.8 on my laptop. Whereas all my other outlook emails sync properly (have turned on the attachment settings in activesync options), mails with attachments appear as unresolved items on activesync (cannot see nature of unresolved items) and do not appear on the XDA. I think this may be something to do with the converters, but I'm a novice at all this so am just guessing.

Any help appreciated.
