Red face PDA to SAT/NAV

I don't know if this is a daft question, but is it possible to convert a PDA to a SAT/NAV system. I already have access to the mapping material disc for the U.K

I will be grateful if anyone can supply an answer and also what extra equipment is needed, if possible with a guideline priice(s).

Thanks you for any answers.

If you have a read around our site you will see thats not such a daft question.
It's totally possible. Which CD do you have and do you have a PDA already?

The Palm T5 isn't supported by a lot of software at the moment. I'm not familiar with Medion 4.2 but I'm sure it's a PocketPC app and won't work with your T5 either. You'll a GPS receiver but we'd need to know which iPAQ you have to recommend one.

The ipaq i have is the H5450.
I would be looking to use the u.k mapping and occasionally French mapping.
Hope you can advise further.

Then you Medion software should work with the 5450...you'll still need a GPS receiver. I believe the 5450 has Bluetooth so you can get a Bluetooth or cabled receiver.

Thanks for your help.I think i'll plump for a cabled reciever. Can you tell me the range of prices and also what you would recommend.

Thanks again,
dw54

Have a look at the Holux receiver @ http://www.totalpda.co.uk/Holux-GR211-receiver.aspx , you will need a cable to attach it to your iPAQ, it's @ http://www.totalpda.co.uk/Holux-GR21...2-cable--.aspx .
