Default xda2 and tomtom disabled gps query

help please before I go intergalactic - the set up - XDA2 with installed official tomtom3 software, tomtom wired gps receiver, all linked using a car kit with charger, speaker etc combined. I have installed the software, put the car kit in, the car kit comprises cradle with combined speaker, port interface c/w gps receiver socket and 12v input for charger, the gps receiver socket was supplied with a short lead that had a male socket one end into the cradle interface and a female end the other which linked into the gps device cable, the cable has leadtek tomtom label on it.

current situation with the xda in the mount, the all LEDs functioning including the green LED on the Gps, I start up tomtom, it loads the screen but says at the bottom GPS disabled, I go thro the menus and and tap on the satelite picture icon, sorry cant remember the name, it does its stuff and comes back with something like unable to launch gps receiver etc, etc - this is as far as I get, I have left the gps receiver on overnight without the xda in, I have left the xda in this am for an hour with the software running - still no joy - please help - I am not a patient person - please help!!!!

Welcome to our forums.
The "unable to launch" sounds like its about the GPS Control Panle? Does that ring any bells? If so, install TomTom again as the GPS control panel appears to be missing or corrupt.

hello charlie, all seems to work now - thanks - what I did, reinstalled the standard software without the update cd, I dont think I needed the latter as it was for HP machines? anyways, put xda in cradle, fired up and got hit with the com port problem, something that had been queried & answered I encountered earlier in your forum, therefore I went into system settings and unchecked the beam box, put xda back in, fired up and all is good, although I havent done a trip yet it recognised my current position and showed me this on a map - thanks very much to you and your forum - any further feedback you or fellow forum persons have to improve my current working situation in terms of updates or other would be greatly appreciated - thanks - luke

Your welcome luke, let us know what you think of the system after you've navigated with it...I'm sure you will be impressed.
