Default Ipaq battery won't charge

Bit of a strange one, the battery in my Ipaq (2210) was flat, so I plugged it in to the charge lead and the orange LED started flashing as normal to indicate it was charging. I left it on charge overnight, but when I checked it this morning (8 hours later) the LED was still flashing, I expected it to be on constant indicating it was charged. I unplugged the Ipaq and turned it on, instantly getting the 'low power' pop up and shortly after the unit shut off. I have tried removing the battery and replacing it and also cleaned the battery contacts, but whatever I try I can't get the battery to hold a charge. It works fine if I use it with the charge lead connected, but us soon as you unplug it the unit just powers down due to low power.

I can only assume the battery is duff?, so any ideas where I can get a new one?, or has anyone got any ideas of what could be wrong before I consign the 2210 to the bin and start looking for something else?

You could try connecting the AC charger directly to the iPAQ and charging it that way,may or may not work. Also, depending on it's age you may be able to get a replacement battery from HP under warranty.
